Migrating Zephyr for Jira license from Server to Data Center
As of September 3rd 2019, Atlassian has announced that it would no longer support the use of server licenses for Jira Apps on Jira Data Center if an approved Data Center App exists (https://www.atlassian.com/blog/enterprise/data-center-approved-apps). With that deadline, anyone using Zephyr on their Jira Data Center instance needs to make sure the license is for Data Center instead of Server to avoid any issues with losing Zephyr functionality upon their renewal.
This guide will provide instruction on migrating to a Zephyr Data Center License.
Step 1 - Update Renewal Quote
To prevent accidentally purchasing a Zephyr for Jira Server license with your next renewal, go to any existing quotes at my.atlassian.com under the Orders Tab. Once you select your quote, go to the Actions section and click the pencil symbol to edit it. From here you can remove Zephyr for Jira Server from your quote.
Step 2 - Purchase and Install new Zephyr for Jira Data Center License

- Log into your Jira instance as an admin.
- Go to Zephyr for Jira Data Center marketplace page - https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1014681/zephyr-for-jira-test-management?hosting=datacenter&tab=overview
- Click Buy now to purchase a license for Zephyr for Jira - Test Management.You're prompted to log into MyAtlassian. Zephyr for Jira - Test Management begins to download.
- Enter your information and click Generate license when redirected to MyAtlassian.
- Click Apply license.If you're using an older version of UPM, you can copy and paste the license into your Jira instance.
Now that you are using the proper Zephyr for Jira Data Center license, you can continue managing your Test Cycles with Zephyr!
